DOWNERS GROVE, IL—A popular radio talk-show host will speak at the annual picnic of the TAPROOT Republicans, August 15.

Teri O’Brien, who does political commentary on WLS radio (890 AM), gained celebrity with her wit and no-nonsense analysis of the day’s events. Her show airs every Sunday from 12 to 3 pm.

A juris doctor, Doctor O’Brien practiced law before she jumped into the highly competitive talk-radio field as a conservative commentator.

The favorite targets of her humor include Democrats John Kerry, Michael Moore, and most recently, the notorious pants-stuffer and former consultant to the Kerry campaign for president Sandy Berger.

“TAPROOT is proud to offer Doctor O’Brien as a speaker in our program to keep conservative up-to-date on the political trends,” said George Kocan, Chairman.  “All nine candidates for the U.S. Senate in the Republican Party talked to our group this past year.”

Former State Senator George Ray Hudson along with other conservative Republicans formed the TAPROOT Republicans 38 years ago.  Ever since, they have worked to bring the conservative message to the public and elect like-minded political candidates.

The organization is dedicated to preserving the U.S. Constitution and its guarantees of the right to life, moral decency, ownership of firearms, property rights, local government and low taxes.

‘TAPROOT’ stands for Traditions And Principles Republicans Often Overlook Today.

The picnic will run from 2 pm to 5 pm, Sunday, August 15, at Twin Lakes Park in Westmont.  It is on 55th Street between Fairview and Cass Avenues, at Williams St., in Westmont.   TAPROOT will supply soft drinks and charcoal.  Picnickers should bring their own meat, a dish share and extra chairs.  A free will offering of $5 per family will, also, be accepted.
